How can I help?

The Old Cranleighan Hockey Club is founded and maintained on the efforts by our army of amazing volunteers, and without them the club wouldn’t function. We encourage all our members to get involved in volunteering. Whether it’s umpiring games, assisting with social events, coaching our colts, selling kit, managing the daily running of the club, or simply cheering our teams on. Without our volunteers we simply wouldn’t be able to function.

And you don’t need to be a member of the hockey club to help out. We welcome mums, dads, boyfriends, girlfriends, friends and any other willing people you may know!
Below are our current and ongoing roles. If you can give your time and think you can help support us, we would love to hear from you.

Club Membership Secretary – Voluntary Role
An exciting opportunity to play a central role in the Old Cranleighan Hockey Club. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring all Old Cranleighan Hockey Club members pay the appropriate membership fees as per agreed deadlines. This is a vital role for the club as membership receipts ensure the sustainability of the club. For more details click here. Appropriate handover and continual support will be given. Our online membership fee system LoveAdmin is now embedded across both the Senior and Colts section which has reduced the amount of administration required.  Please apply in writing to Kate Tanner (OCHCTreasurer@gmail.com).

Colts Fixtures Secretary & Communications – Paid Role
The Colts section requires a committed individual to manage its Colts Fixtures and write the weekly newsletter. This is a part-time flexible, home working arrangement for a suitably qualified and committed individual. We continue to anticipate an average of 10 hours per week peaking at different points in the season. The season runs Sept – March but there is also a need for administrative support in the summer months prior to the start of each season. For more details click here

Please apply in writing to Gavin Adair (gsadair@yahoo.co.uk) with a summary of why you believe you are the right person for this role no later than September 13th, including details of any relevant experience. Interviews of shortlisted candidates to take place by phone from mid September, working towards an appointment before the end of the month. Questions to Gavin by email in the first instance.

Ladies Club Captain – Voluntary Role
With the Ladies section rapidly growing this role is key as it is the point person and co-ordinator for players, captains and coaches within the Ladies. It’s an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to get more involved with the Ladies section, enjoys being an integral member of the club and help develop the Ladies clubs strategy. For more details click here. Please apply in writing to Helen Hawes (helen.hawes@btinternet.com).

Colts Coaches & Parent Team Reps – Voluntary Role(s)
We are always on the lookout for new volunteers to support our growing Colts section. Whether it is supporting lead coaches to facilitate planned training sessions or acting as a team rep to help assist arrangements for matches. Please get in touch with Jon East (ochccoltsliaison@gmail.com) if you are keen and want to find out more.

Umpires – Voluntary Role(s)
Currently 15 senior sides and some weekends up to 20+ Colts sides currently push back each weekend and umpires are fundamental to that. If you are a qualified umpire and can support us please let Simon Marshall, our Umpire Liaison Officer, know so we can continue to build our pool of umpires. There is no requirement to commit yourself each week. In addition if you wish to get your Level 1 qualification then the cost will be refunded by the club if you umpire our matches. Details of courses running and booking can be done via the England Hockey HockeyHub website – https://hockeyhub.englandhockey.co.uk/officiating-offer . Please contact Simon Marshall in advance of booking so he can assist you with any queries.
