Lockdown 2.0 suspends hockey

Dear All

Further to the Government’s announcement on Saturday evening, England Hockey has announced that no club or community hockey can be played from 5 November until after 4 December at the earliest. This means Junior and Senior training will continue until Wednesday with the club house open until 10pm for anyone wishing to grab a post training refreshment.

Whilst hugely disappointing we should be grateful for how much we have been allowed to play so far, especially when other sports have not been able to return in the manner they are usually played. Thank you to all those that have be involved in regards to the administration and communication of the COVID-19 regulations, it is much appreciated.

We are awaiting formal updates from all the national, regional and local leagues on what this means in relation to rearranging fixtures. With so many teams across the club we would ask for your patience as we work through the details.

If we are permitted to return before Christmas then we will do so in a safe and controlled way. We will also continue to keep everyone up to date with any changes through our website, social media channels and newsletters.

Lauren Moors our Director of Junior Hockey will be working with our coaching team to provide ‘zoom’ fitness skills and sessions for our Juniors. If you’re on Strava, why not join our OCHC Strava Club (OCHCC) to support each other as we stay fit and healthy during this time. For all those keen half and full marathon runners why not enter the Cayman Islands virtual marathon? Every entrant is automatically included in a prize draw to win a free trip to the 2021 event!

Finally let’s make sure we keep in touch with one another. Please reach out and check-in through whatever channel suits you or your squad best.

Thank you for your time and stay safe.
