New Director of Coaching Appointment

Old Cranleighan Hockey Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of Omar Shibli to the role of Director of Coaching, marking an exciting new chapter in the Club’s continued growth.

Omar brings a wealth of experience to the role, both on and off the pitch. As former Barnes Hockey Club Women’s 1st XI Head Coach, he has a proven track record of developing high-performing teams at a competitive level, with the team achieving promotion to the England Hockey Premier Division for the first time in the clubโ€™s history. Omar will also bring valuable insight and experience to our Junior coaching programme, having co-founded EVO Hockey in 2015, which delivers top class training to young players, developing them with hockey concepts from around the world. Heโ€™s a technical specialist, with a track record of developing players through Junior and Senior International levels and will be instrumental in supporting the progression of our Junior players into Adult teams.

In his new role, Omar will lead the delivery of all hockey activity at Old Cranleighan Hockey Club, driving player and coach development across the Adult and Junior sections, built on the Clubโ€™s foundation as a family community hockey club.

“We’re excited to welcome Omar to the Old Cranleighan Hockey Club community,” said Helen Hawes, Club Captain. “Omar’s proven track record nurturing players as a coach, and more importantly developing high quality coaches and plans, will ensure we deliver against one of our key objectives – to ensure quality hockey across all our membership.”

Omar added “I’m excited to be joining Old Cranleighan Hockey Club as Director of Coaching. OCHC is a club with tremendous potential. The club already has a vibrant junior section, ambitious men’s and women’s programmes, and a fantastic community of players, coaches and volunteers. Combined with exceptional facilities, including a pitch-side clubhouse and covered grandstand, it provides an incredible platform to build something truly special.

Iโ€™m looking forward to building on the strong foundations already in place. I believe the club has the potential to develop into one of the leading hockey environments in the country, with a clear and connected pathway for players and coaches, a thriving club culture, and an environment where people can contribute, grow and realise their potential.

I’m looking forward to becoming part of the OCHC community, working alongside the coaches, players, volunteers and committee, and helping shape an exciting future for the club.”

We can’t wait to welcome Omar to the Club and know he’s really looking forward to meeting our players, coaches and volunteers over the coming weeks and months.
