Match report: Ladies vs Woking 27/09/14

OCs 0 – 2 Woking

Following last week’s friendly against Epsom with a squad of only 9, the ladies were somewhat relieved to start the season with 12 players. Sophie Merrett stepped up to play in goal in the absence Michelle this week, and it was great to see a few new faces, as well as the return of Rosie.

As the warm up got underway, it became clear that the unexpected September heat was going to be a challenge. The first half took some time to settle into and Woking were able to use this to their advantage and score a couple of goals by the time the whistle was blown.

After some much needed half time rehydration and a few encouraging words from new coach Sam, the ladies were back on the pitch and putting their training into practice, but unfortunately were unable to convert any of their chances into goals. Whilst the result may not have gone our way, it’s only the first game of the season so it’s onwards and upwards from here on in!
