A hat-trick of Surrey Cup titles

The long hockey season has now drawn to its conclusion with another trophy for the club following the 1st XI’s 4-0 demolition of Guildford in the Surrey Cup final. In so doing we become the first club ever to win the cup in three successive seasons, which is some achievement.

Only three years ago Guildford were unwilling to play a pre season friendly against us due to our not being considered good enough, but the last season’s league games and this cup match have dispelled that theory. We even had the luxury of playing the final when a good seven or eight players short of our first choice squad.

Two goals from JJ and one each from Murph and Harry Hill were sufficient to claim the trophy although Guildford did provide a spirited opposition and did trouble Joshko who was in imperious form in goal.

Well done George for making this happen and for being a better quality tournament than at any point in the last two decades.

Now to win it a fourth time in the hope that in 2019-20 season we will not be able to enter a 1st team due to our having National League status.

Perhaps next year the 2s go in for the plate so that we can win both competitions?!
