Cyclists head to the Netherlands

In the build-up to the Barnstormers visit to the Netherlands on the weekend of  April 28-29, several slightly older gentlemen (Gerry, Dougie, Toby, Virge, Richie, Nige & Goalie) are cycling, in just two days, 275 miles, to Den Bosch, Holland to play against Den Domel HC on 28 April.  Eastie and Redders will be doing the first 100 miles to Dover!

Training has been interesting with some of those involved turning in impressive performances and other less so with punctures and broken pumps to the fore.  The advance squad leaves East Horsley at a ridiculous hour on Wednesday 25th with the second, more professional, pack departing a day later but looking to cycle just as far.  They should meet up on the road on Friday afternoon.

Updates on the trip will be provided on the OCHC Pitchin Twitter account (@OCHCPitchin) and Virge will also be entering into the technological age with a Go pro on his handlebars.  He has no idea how to use it, however.

The purpose of this trip is to raise money towards the new astroturf and at the time of writing £7600 has been raised towards the target of £10,000.  Please click here to contribute.

Please give generously, if not for the kids, for those 40-year-olds, whose knees are shot, but still love playing hockey!
