OCS Ladies 2s 3 – 4 Wanderers Ladies 4s
It was touch and go whether the game would go ahead on this frosty Saturday but the ladies turned up eager to play and hit the ground running.
With their push back we started chasing the ball down. We took the game to them making numerous interceptions. What followed were multiple D entries and a couple of short corners but no result. In a turn of events wanderers scored at the back post making it 0-1 reasonably early into the first half. Another followed pretty much the same, a break of play and a slot in at the back post. 0-2.
Both against the run of play giving the possession percentage must have been about 70-30 in OCS favour.
Finally a short corner converted by Mighalls, taking us into half time 1-2. Feeling more positive and that a comeback was achievable we started the second half….. but within a minute they scored what seemed a super slow motion goal- well blame the blinding sun! 1-3.
The battle was on!!
Lots of play break down followed with end to end play but a flurry of shorts in our favour led to A.Mir slotting in a short for the left post. 2-3.
A period of uneventful play followed with a counter attack by wanderers taking it to 2-4.
Undeterred and still feeling a comeback was on OCs won what felt like 10 short corners but unable to convert until 2 minutes to go where M.Fewings found the back board from the right post. 3-4. Just not enough time to score another one or two to make the score reflect our efforts. Special mention to candela with her drag flicks at shorts!
